Rahman's Working Style Forces Peddi's June Shift

The most anticipated Telugu film of 2025 just hit its first major roadblock, and it comes from an unexpected source: the legendary AR Rahman's methodical approach to background scoring.

Ram Charan's Peddi, which had locked April 30th as its release date, will now arrive only in June after the team made the difficult decision to postpone following extensive discussions between director Buchi Babu Sana, producer Venkata Satish Kilaru, and the Mega family. The delay isn't due to any creative differences or budget issues: it's purely Rahman's working philosophy clashing with tight deadlines.

The Oscar winner has already delivered exceptional background score for Peddi's first half, completed over a month ago and reportedly meeting everyone's expectations. However, Rahman's insistence on working with complete, locked edits rather than scoring individual scenes piecemeal has created the current bottleneck. When Buchi Babu delivered the second half's edit just last week, Rahman requested at least a month to craft the background score with his characteristic precision.

This methodical approach, while frustrating for immediate timelines, reflects Rahman's commitment to creating cohesive musical narratives rather than rushed compositions. His recent focus on Ramayana and other Bollywood projects had also limited his availability for Peddi until now.

The postponement reveals deeper production challenges too. Buchi Babu was still shooting until March's end: a timeline that industry veterans would consider dangerously tight for an April release. An item number remains to be filmed, with the team yet to finalize the actress to feature opposite Charan after ruling out several options including Mrunal Thakur.

Ram Charan himself was initially adamant about the April date, but ultimately agreed to the postponement when presented with the realities of post-production requirements. The decision shows maturity from a star who could have pushed for a rushed release but chose quality over quick gratification.

With the first copy expected by May's third week, Peddi now has breathing room for proper finishing touches. Sometimes the best films are worth the wait, and if Rahman's involvement in Peddi matches his RRR magic, this delay might prove to be a blessing in disguise for Telugu cinema's biggest release of the year.
