Spirit Pushed to 2027: Prabhas' Busy Schedule Creates Major Roadblock
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga ready to wrap in 50 continuous days, but star's availability remains elusive

The much-anticipated collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga has hit a significant scheduling hurdle. Despite Spirit officially going on floors, the project now faces an uncertain timeline that could push its release well into 2027.
Industry sources reveal that Prabhas' packed calendar is the primary bottleneck. While the Animal director is reportedly ready to complete the entire shoot if given 50 continuous working days, the pan-India star's commitment to multiple projects makes such dedicated availability nearly impossible. This familiar pattern, where Prabhas juggles dates across various films rather than focusing on one project at a time, is once again proving costly for a major production.
The production team initially hoped to secure bulk dates from Prabhas by May or June, but those plans have evidently fallen through. What was meant to be a 2025 or 2026 release is now being pushed to March 2027, specifically targeting the Eid weekend to maximize Hindi market penetration.
This strategic release date makes commercial sense. Following Animal's massive success, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's next directorial carries enormous expectations in Bollywood circles. An Eid release would tap into the festival's traditionally strong box office performance for big-ticket entertainers.
However, this timeline creates an intriguing clash scenario. Salman Khan, who has made Eid releases his signature strategy over the years, is reportedly planning his own mega-budget film with Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally for the same period. Given Salman's recent string of disappointments, a comeback vehicle during his lucky Eid slot would be crucial for his career trajectory.
The potential box office face-off between two superstars, one riding high on pan-India success, the other seeking redemption, would be fascinating. But it also reflects a broader industry challenge: when star dates become more precious than project timelines, even the most promising collaborations can get derailed.
For now, Spirit remains in limbo, another casualty of the complex logistics that define modern Telugu cinema's multi-project ecosystem.
